Goosen and Rocca Take The Early Lead At Fancourt

The good memories he has of The Links are certainly coming back to Retief Goosen, whose team leads after nine holes in Saturday’s betterball of the Gary Player Invitational, presented by Coca-Cola.

Goosen and Italian Costantino Rocca currently share the betterball lead on five-under-par, with Australian Peter Mitchell and the Sunshine Tour’s Omar Sandys their nearest challengers on four-under-par.

Goosen, who won Friday’s pro-am with a round of 67 and claimed the 2005 South African Open on this course, has done most of the scoring in his betterball team with four birdies on the front nine.

And Goosen and Rocca also share the lead in the fourball alliance competition with their amateurs, Spanish model Ines Sastre and businessman Alan Pearson, on nine-under-par alongside Vincent Tshabalala, Thomas Aiken, Roland Schoeman and Joseph Stoltz.
