GPI South Africa Participant Profile: Jo-Ann Strauss

2010 has been a very successful year for South African TV star, Jo-Ann Strauss, for a number of reasons:
• She was chosen again as the face of LUX for their biggest campaign shot in Singapore and South Africa.
• She presented television (the World Cup) in German on ZDF, Europe’s largest TV channel to over 30 million viewers.
• She was invited back to MC for Princess Caroline’s big charitable event in Monaco.
• Women’s Health magazine used her as their first ever South African cover girl.
• She is soon off to Sardinia, Italy, to MC one of the biggest events on the international sailing calendar and many more accolades after having been chosen from a number of top international MC’s.

Jo-Ann currently hosts Top Billing, South Africa’s longest running glamour TV show and continues to travel the world as one of SABC3’s most popular faces. She has been doing television for over a third of her life and continues to enjoy the various challenges and opportunities that come along with it. She has filled 4 passports with stamps from all corners of the globe.
She has been voted best and most stylish presenter on a number of occasions and prides herself on being one of SA’s most popular Masters of Ceremonies and Speakers. Her diary is full of speaking engagements from Phalaborwa to Phuket and she is excited about the international attention she has been receiving after her World Cup inserts on South Africa garnered record ratings for Europe’s most watched channel.
Jo-Ann’s career started after winning the Miss SA title 10 years ago and after completing her B.Comm (Law) degree at Stellenbosch University, she also pursued an MBA at UNISA. She is completing this degree part-time. She is fluent in English, Afrikaans and German and can also hold a conversation in Xhosa.  She has interviewed stars ranging from George Clooney to Charlize Theron and has shared the catwalk with Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss. She is involved in a number of charitable organization and has her own “The Princess Project” where she distributes her and other celebrity dresses to young deserving ladies around SA.
