Wessel Witthuhn

Wessel Witthuhn has been President of Africa & Indian Ocean Region of IFA Hotels & Resorts Limited since July, 2008 after being Vice President of Design and Development for Africa and Indian Ocean since May 2006.
His responsibilities include new business development, strategic planning for all business forms, strategic relationship management, sourcing of opportunities with various individuals and Government officials throughout Africa and the Indian Ocean as well as project development ensuring project viability and ongoing asset growth.

He holds a B.Sc. in Building Science from the University of the Witwatersrand, and MSc in Construction Management and a Diploma in Arbitration and Dispute Resolution.

Witthuhn commenced his career in the construction industry in 1987. He joined Grinaker Building Cape in 1997 to project manage a $45 million refurbishment of the Cavendish Square Shopping Centre. He served as a Director of Grinaker Cape where his responsibilities included procuring new work, marketing, negotiating, financial management, budgeting and strategic planning.  He served as General Manager of Grinaker Infrastructure Development in Johannesburg where his role included negotiating with Parliamentary Ministers on many Private Partnership initiatives, including toll roads and airport privatizations.

In 2002 Wessel emigrated to Dubai where he joined Damac Properties as the Vice President of Projects. In September 2003 he was headhunted to take over the management of the entire Real Estate and Property Management Divisions within the Al-Rostamani Group.

In his spare time Wessel can be found fly fishing or demonstrating his passion for golf on the links. Wessel is married to Meredith and has two daughters, Megan (18) and Tessa (14).
